US 101 paving wraps up in Grays Harbor County
HOQIUAM – US 101 travelers in Grays Harbor County are now enjoying a smoother ride.
On Friday, Oct. 2, contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation completed paving about 36 miles of highway between Hoquiam and the Jefferson County line.
Through the end of October, from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, travelers can expect intermittent single-lane alternating traffic. The lane closures allow crews to apply permanent pavement markings and other final touches. Wet, cold weather could extend the work schedule. Crews will shift throughout the project areas as each section of roadway is completed.
US 101 paving extended to Kalaloch
While most of the original project area approaches the finish line, another section of highway will have work in 2027. WSDOT has added more than four miles of paving to the north end of the project near Kalaloch. Crews also need to finish a section of highway between New London and Axford. Work is expected to begin in June 2027.
The $31.4 million project will help preserve the existing highway for years to come.
